John has ten years of experience in natural resource monitoring, restoration,
and management. He has extensive knowledge of Colorado plant community
ecology, botany, and weed management. While enrolled in graduate school
at Colorado State University, he gained experience in Front Range fire
ecology (including monitoring post-fire restoration efforts for the Buffalo
Creek fire), weed ecology, botany, and restoration.
After recieving his M.S. in Rangeland Ecosystem Science from CSU in 2000,
John gained additional experience in weed management, wildfire firefighting,
restoration, and botany while working for the City of Boulder, Department
of Open Space and Mountain Parks. In 2002 he became certified by the US
Army Corps of Engineers to conduct wetland delineations. Through his experience
with the City of Boulder (responsible for organizing restoration and vegetation
monitoring programs) he has gained effective program design and management
skills.
John is a member of the Colorado Native Plant Society where he serves
on the horticulture and Restoration Committee and has written a series
of articles for their bi-monthly newsletter. He is also a member of the
Society for Ecological Restoration, Society for Range Management, and
the Ecological Society of America.
